The face of the little girl before the fall of the night!   Leave a comment

Evening came to the beach of Pattaya, the beach city in Thailand, along with me in a last May.The beach was not that much crowded and I sat under a tree to watch the shore and the sea.In the opposite side ,the shops remained somewhat calm ;I looked back to the seaside, there was a traveler looking at the evening sea and relaxing.

A traveler at rest in the evening beach of ‘Pattaya’

Then I saw a little girl running around ,accompanied by her mother who was sitting silent on a bench under another tree not far away from me.I was watching her playing …and suddenly her eyes met with mine and she stopped in front of me when I smiled !

The little girl I met with at Pattaya beach in the evening of a Last May

I took her photos and she remained there still for me to have a peaceful watch and expressed her intimacy to me…meanwhile, the street grew darker and the lights in the shops against shone brighter…

Behind the girl, the lights in the shops began to shine

The wayside lights in subdued red

A few seconds passed and her mother called her back.
The night fell on the streets and I walked down from the beach.
The roads were crowded now and the traffic was high.
And the lights on the wayside were sparkling but  in subdued  red!

IT IS RAINING ALL OVER THE HILLS…!!   3 comments

From the last of May it begins to have the rains of monsoon here in the southern part of India;and the  rains last for one or more than a month in succession , most often. In the North Eastern ranges of this State where palm trees are in abundance, the monsoon rains create concentrated moods of solitude and silence during the daytime….the white rains of the South-Western monsoon make stop-overs atop the high rocks and palms scattered around among the North-Eastern hills and this continue for hours or until the night falls in some days….the palms and a high rock  submerged in the white rains are the visuals I have been looking into in this water color ,’Raining over the Hills’, that I did in 2005:

Raining over the Hills ,my water color on paper ,done in2005,which I think a tribute to the Indian writer O.V. Vijayan who died in that year

The main inspiration behind this visualization was the death of the Indian writer O.V.Vijayan in 2005;who had written more about the monsoons and the hills in the North-Eastern part of Kerala in India.

I have seen the trails of a kingfisher in the country woods….;   Leave a comment

Night had been over by the sound of droplets trickling down from the trees around the plantation in the countryside valley as there had been rains last night.Early in the morning ,I started making the morning tea when I heard the splashing sounds in the pool near the cottage and looked through the window glass to know that it were the flapping of wings of a kingfisher in the pool around .So, I finished with my tea and took my canon500D and looked out of the window to see the kingfisher on the branches nearby:

It was the white-throated one with cerulean blue wings and  long ,maroon beaks …I kept silent and a safe distance from the wall and the doors with my canon 400mm USM and begun shooting the behavior of the bird after the early dawn bathing ;the wings were slightly spread out and jerking the body in full swing,it began to rejuvenate; many times,it was a little bit difficult to get the focus  as the postures rapidly changed in fractions of moments! Thus, moments passed, the sun shone up more , the leaves and shadows varied in the breeze emerging from the lower part of the plane ;meanwhile the Fisher kept its position still on the same spot in the branch but its postures and movements varied from one to another instantaneously……the morning had awakened into bright lights and the rays got more hot; I don’t know how much the shutter button was released within that while and it is only when I had thought it was enough, I took my hands away from the button and moved back. Then I thought about the tea-table for making preparations for my light  breakfast. By this time ,my white-throated companion had left the branch……to another one away :

Body horizontal

Turn away

The wings up

Postures changed rapidly and the entire body was shivered to spell out the wet
